I have a small amount of dried lavender at my altar, which has a very light scent and matches my décor perfectly.</image:title>

One widely cited study from Harvard neuroscientist Sara Lazar and her team (2011) found that practicing mindfulness meditation for just 27 minutes a day over 8 weeks led to increased gray matter density in areas of the brain associated with memory, emotion regulation and learning—specifically the hippocampus. At the same time, there was a reduction in the amygdala, which is linked to stress and anxiety.</image:caption>
